CanWEA bullish on 2013 Canadian wind industry growth

Canada will experience record wind development in 2013 after seeing almost 1.2GW of forecast new installations this year, according to the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA).

The industry group sees a "banner year" in 2013 for Ontario and expects that Quebec will move ahead with a tender for 700MW of wind power. Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan also intend to pursue new requests for wind energy this year.

Canada commissioned 1.267GW in new wind energy capacity in 2011, representing C$3.1bn ($3.16bn) in new investment. The country ranked sixth globally in terms of new installed wind energy capacity.
