Prokon orders 10 direct-drive PMG units from The Switch

German wind developer Prokon has placed a follow-up order with The Switch, this time for 10 direct-drive permanent-magnet generator units totaling 30MW of capacity.

The generators will be used in Prokon’s own P3000 turbines, which will be installed at onshore wind farms in Germany and Poland.

The deal follows a prior two-unit order Prokon made with the Finnish power-electronics and control-systems manufacturer, with those turbines set for testing at the end of 2012.

The Switch says the orders will bolster Prokon’s plans to “provide full turbine development and manufacturing”.
