The
ruling
gives
the
US
Bureau
of
Land
Management
(BLM)
authority
to
proceed
with
detailed
environmental
analysis
for
the
wind
plants
and
their
associated
infrastructure.
The
proposed
Chokecherry
and
Sierra
Madre
wind
farms
would
cover
two
sites
containing
up
to
1,000
turbines
south
of
Rawlins
in
Carbon
County.
Power
Company
of
Wyoming
plans
to
develop
the
sites
–
which
are
8km
apart
–
in
phases,
creating
what
would
potentially
be
among
the
world’s
largest
wind
complexes.
The
project
could
create
1,000
jobs
and
generate
enough
power
for
one
million
homes,
says
the
DOI.
