REpower chief urges Australia to stand firm on renewables target

The chief executive of wind turbine manufacturer REpower Systems has urged Australia not to backtrack on its Renewable Energy Target (RET), which he hailed as a global role-model for similar policies.

The RET – which targets a 20% share of power generation for renewables by 2020 – is up for review at the end of the year, with some politicians calling for it to be lowered or scrapped altogether.
