Newhaven Port chosen as O&M hub for E.ON's Rampion

E.ON has named Newhaven Port as the future site of the operations and maintenance base for its Round 3 Rampion project off the Sussex coast, in a letdown for Shoreham-by-Sea, some 15km to the west.

E.ON was known to be running the ruler over both towns, which in either case would see a major economic boost from playing host to the 85 permanent jobs expected to be created at the O&M base.

Shoreham would have been marginally closer to most of the turbine sites within the Rampion zone, but Newhaven was chosen based on its proximity, accessibility and the amount of space available, according to Rampion development manager Chris Tomlinson.
