Boost for 'Trump row' offshore wind project as radar fears ease

The offshore wind turbine test-site in Scotland opposed by Donald Trump has received a boost, after military and air traffic control officials said they will no longer oppose the project following improvements to radar systems.

According to the scheme’s developer, the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) and air traffic control association Nats have dropped objections to the 11-turbine European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) off Aberdeen.

An upgrade to military radar systems at nearby RAF Buchan to prevent interference from the turbines allayed MoD fears, while EOWDC agreed to help with the installation of hardware elsewhere to ease the concerns of Nats.
