Big names line up for Norstec UK offshore wind network

The group claims the long-term potential of offshore wind in Europe is greater than current oil and gas production

Siemens, Vestas, Alstom, E.ON and Dong are among more than 40 companies and organisations that will today start work on a UK government-backed initiative for the offshore wind sector.

The Norstec industry network, announced by UK Prime Minister David Cameron in April, meets for the first time in London in a bid to help build the framework needed for rapid development of offshore wind in Europe’s northern seas.

The group’s mission statement claims that the long-term potential of accessible offshore wind resources in Europe is greater than the continent’s current oil and gas production combined.
