Vestas
chief
operating
officer
(COO)
Jean-Marc
Lechene
says
that
several
options
are
being
looked
at,
including
"partial
idling"
of
factories.
However,
he
adds
that
Vestas
needs
to
take
into
consideration
a
number
of
factors
before
making
widespread
redundancies.
These
include
strong
activity
in
neighbouring
Mexico
and
Canada,
continuing
political
uncertainty
in
the
US,
and
the
relative
costs
of
laying
off
workers
then
hiring
them
back
again
when
the
market
recovers.
The
uncertainty
is
mainly
centred
on
the
prospects
for
renewal
of
the
federal
production
tax
credit
(PTC)
for
wind
output.
