The
Danish
wind
turbine
manufacturer
has
concluded
that
an
8MW
machine
makes
more
sense
in
terms
of
the
technology
and
costs
involved
than
a
7MW
model,
says
a
source.
Vestas
put
the
brakes
on
its
V164-7MW
programme
in
May
of
this
year,
announcing
that
deployment
of
the
first
prototype
would
be
pushed
back
from
2013
into
the
following
year.
The
company
currently
plans
to
stick
to
that
timetable
with
the
8MW
development
programme.
However,
Recharge
understands
that
offshore
development
could
be
speeded
up
again,
if
talks
with
Japan’s
Mitsubishi
Heavy
Industries
