EDF EN acquires Polish wind developer and 48MW project

EDF EN plans to bring new projects online to join the existing Tychowo wind farm in Poland's fleet

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) has moved into the Polish wind market with the purchase of local developer Starke Wind and an almost-completed 48MW project.

The French renewables giant says the acquisition of Starke brings it an experienced team in Poland and a project portfolio of about 650MW.

Construction of two of the Starke projects – of 58MW and 28MW – could start next year. Another 150MW of developments are at “an advanced development stage” says EDF EN.

The separate purchase of the Linowo project in the Grudziadz region of northern Poland gives the French group the chance to get wind operations underway quickly, it says.
