France tipped for imminent launch of new offshore tender

France could launch a second offshore wind tender-round for 1.3GW of development as soon as this Sunday, according to reports.

France said in April that it would stage another round after handing out 1.93GW of capacity in its debut offshore tender.

The new government led by president Francois Hollande is being tipped to announce the second tender as soon as 16 September, following a major summit on France's environmental policy that it is staging at the end of this week. It has not confirmed the reports.

The second round will include a 705MW zone at Treport – up for grabs last time, but not awarded after it attracted only one bid from utility…
