Argentina's Impsa Wind wins 76MW Venezuela turbine order

Argentine turbine manufacturer Impsa Wind will equip the 75.6MW La Guajira project in Venezuela for state electricity company Corpoelec.

The wind farm will be supplied out of Impsa’s Brazilian factories and is expected to come on line in 2014.

Impsa will deliver its IWP83 direct-drive wind turbines to the project, with towers of 72-meters.

The wind farm is part of the Venezuelan government’s attempt to increase the role of renewable energy in the electricity supply mix.

Elsewhere, Petróleos de Venezuela is building a 100MW wind farm in Falcón state with 76 Gamesa machines. At least 24 turbines have already been installed at the site, the first wind project in the country.
