Engineer WEG gets first wind order with 90MW for Brazil

Brazilian electrical engineering group WEG has won its first contract to supply wind turbines.

The order is for 90MW for a wind farm in the northeast of Brazil, which is due to begin operations by January 2016.

WEG has a joint venture with Spanish wind turbine designer and manufacturer M Torres Olvega for the Brazilian market.

The machines will be produced in WEG’s Jaraguá do Sul manufacturing plant in Santa Catarina state, and the company estimates that around 80% of the turbines' content will be supplied from Brazil.
