Spain's Acciona secures 30MW Canada wind turbine order

Spanish turbine manufacturer Acciona Windpower has won a contract from PEI Energy Corporation to supply and operate a 30MW wind farm on Prince Edward Island in Canada.

Acciona will supply ten of its AW116/3000 turbines to the project. The deal also includes an operation and maintenance contract for 15 years.

The wind farm is located in the Hermanville and Clear Springs area of Prince Edward Island province, and is expected to be operational by the end of 2013.

Acciona Windpower North America chief executive Joe Baker says the deal marks the first Canadian installation of the AW3000 turbine.
