Innovation jack-up gets set for Global Tech 1 operations

Hochtief-GeoSea joint venture HGO InfraSea Solutions’ new heavy-lift turbine installation vessel is being readied for its first assignment at Germany’s Global Tech 1 400MW offshore wind farm, following its official naming in the port of Bremerhaven.

The Innovation, which is 147-metres long and can reach a speed of 22 km per hour (12 knots), will be able to operate in water depths of up to 65 metres. It has a cargo capacity of 8,000 tonnes, with an on-board crane that can hoist up to 1,500 tonnes

The installation vessel is in the frame to transport and erect the 80, 5MW Areva M5000 wind turbines ordered for the Global Tech 1 development in the German North Sea.
