The
jack-up
vessel
Friedrich
Ernestine
arrived
at
Cammell
Laird
Shipyard
in
Birkenhead,
northwest
England,
this
weekend.
At
100-metres
long
and
49-metres
wide,
the
vessel
is
one
of
the
largest
of
its
kind
in
the
world,
capable
of
transporting
and
installing
up
to
three
foundations
or
four
multi-megawatt
turbines,
says
German-owned
RWE
Innogy.
The
Friedrich
Ernestine
will
stay
at
Cammel
Laird
for
final
fit-out
before
further
sea
trials.
Once
ready,
it
will
join
the
heavy-lift
vessel
Stanislav
Yudin,
which
recently
started
installing
foundations
at
the
Gwynt
y
Môr
site
off
the
coast
of
North
Wales.
