The
Australian
utility
first
prepared
a
planning
application
for
Hallett
3
in
2008
based
on
the
deployment
of
33
turbines.
It
received
consent
in
2009
–
although
this
is
currently
being
appealed.
AGL
says
it
will
not
now
proceed
with
the
previously-approved
development
on
commercial
grounds,
and
will
seek
to
end
the
legal
process
relating
to
the
original
plan.
The
company
says
wind
turbine
technology
has
advanced
significantly
since
the
initial
approval,
and
the
original
terms
of
consent
would
not
cover
the
bigger
machines
now
available.
