Brazilian bank invests $155m in Renova to help fund pipeline

A subsidiary of Brazilian development bank subsidiary BNDES will invest up to R$314.7m ($155.5m) in Renova Energia, to build 15 wind farms.

The BNDESPar injection is to help fund the 25-30% equity needed to build the wind farms, for which Renova won tenders in 2010 and 2011. Construction is expected to begin next month, with full operations starting in September 2013 and March 2014.

Renova expects to invest R$2.9bn in wind power by the end of 2016. It has 1.1GW of projects contracted.
