Brazil's Desenvix to drop case against Sinovel in IP dispute

Brazilian wind developer Desenvix says it plans to drop legal action against Sinovel after receiving reassurances that turbines it is buying from the Chinese manufacturer do not contain intellectual property (IP) stolen from technology supplier AMSC.

It emerged last week that US-based AMSC and Desenvix had both filed actions in a Brazilian court demanding the right to inspect the 1.5MW turbines, which the developer is deploying at its Barra dos Coqueiros wind farm in Sergipe.

AMSC is involved in a complex, international legal dispute with Sinovel over alleged IP theft, and says it wants evidence that the turbines in Brazil do not contain its technology.
