Arise to buy 40-turbine wind project in northern Sweden

Arise is using Vestas V112 3.0MW machines at its 203MW Jädraås project

Arise Windpower has closed a deal to buy the 40-turbine Solberg project from fellow Swedish developer Ownpower, significantly bolstering the near-term pipeline of one of Sweden’s most active wind developers.

The acquisition is contingent on the resolution of a handful of outstanding “issues” with landowners at Örnsköldsvik, near the coast in northern Sweden. But Arise says it intends to have as many as 30 turbines in operation by mid-2014.

Arise did not disclose which type of turbines it intends to use at Solberg. It is using Vestas V112 3.0MW machines for the first phase of its 203MW Jädraås project, which it bought from Ownpower last autumn, and is currently under construction in Gävleborg County.
