Foundations in place as Dong's 400MW Anholt races the clock

Danish utility Dong Energy has finished installing the 111 monopiles for the 400MW Anholt offshore wind farm, which will be Denmark’s largest when it is completed.

The installation was carried out by foundation supply and installation contractor MT Højgaard, using the Svanen and Jumbo Javelin vessels. The foundations were manufactured in Aalborg by Bladt Industries.

”The wind and weather conditions in the Kattegat where the turbines are to be erected can be rough, and we’ve had to suspend installation of the foundations many times,” says project director Flemming Thomsen. ”That’s why I’m very pleased that we have managed to stay on schedule, and that we’ve now installed all 111 foundations."
