Mainstream seeks consent for 450MW Neart na Gaoithe

Ireland-based Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) has put in a consent application for its 450MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project in Scottish territorial waters.

MRP submitted the consent application to Marine Scotland for Neart na Gaoithe, which it wants to occupy a 105 sq km site located 15km off the Fife coast at its closest point.

The application is for a development of between 64 and 125 turbines in water depths of between 45 and 55 metres.

It is now open to consultation until 10 September, and marks a “significant step” towards construction in 2015 and full operations by the end of 2016, according to MRP.
