Green power line firm to help Oklahoma conserve bird

Developer Clean Line Energy Partners has signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) to minimize any adverse effects to the vulnerable Lesser Prairie Chicken from the planned Plains & Eastern transmission project.

Clean Line , based in Houston, intends to invest $2bn in this project, which it estimates will enable 3.5GW of mainly wind power development in western Oklahoma, southwest Kansas and the Texas Panhandle. The 800-mile-long project, consisting of two overhead high-voltage direct current pylons, will deliver electricity to customers in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Clean Line subsidiary Plains & Eastern Clean Line Oklahoma is an Oklahoma transmission-only public utility.
