Salmond says Scots will stick to onshore wind support plans

Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond says his government will maintain its existing plans for onshore wind support levels, and turned up the political heat on the UK government by urging it to do the same.

In a letter to UK energy secretary Ed Davey, Salmond says he will keep support at 0.9 renewables obligation certificates (ROC) per MWh from April 2013, amid delays and uncertainty over the issue in the rest of the UK.

Salmond tells Davey that the Scottish government – which has the power to set its own ROC banding levels – has seen no evidence that would justify a cut in support beyond the 10% reduction to the existing 1 ROC proposed under an earlier consultation.
