NaturEner nears turbine deals for 400MW of Alberta wind

NaturEner in Canada expects to reach wind turbine supply agreements this month for up to 400MW for its Wild Rose I and II projects in southeastern Alberta, Greg Copeland, director of development for North America, tells Recharge.

He did not name possible vendors for the 1.5MW turbines. Acciona is believed to be a candidate for the deal as it is now supplying 126 1.5MW units for NaturEner’s Rim Rock project under construction in Montana. It is building the nacelles at a plant in Iowa.

Other vendors with turbines in this class active in North America are Alstom, GE, Goldwind, Vestas and several recent Chinese entrants including Guodian, SANY and Sinovel.
