Dong
intends
to
deploy
the
Siemens
6MW
turbine
–
a
direct-drive
machine
with
a
154-metre
rotor
–
at
wind
farms
in
the
UK
in
the
2014-2017
period.

agreement
will
enable
Dong
Energy
to
install
a
significantly
larger
turbine
from
2014,"
says
Carsten
Krogsgaard
Thomsen,
acting
chief
executive
of
Dong.
He
adds:
”The
agreement
on
the
supply
of
the
new
turbines
totalling
1,800MW
is
an
important
step...and
will
help
make
offshore
wind
more
competitive.”
