Germans lend $164m to 120MW wind farm project in Turkey

The developer of a 120MW wind farm in western Turkey has secured a $164.5m finance package from German lenders.

KfW Ipex-Bank and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg will provide the loans to Turkish group Alto Holding, which is building the Karaburun project near the city of Izmir.

Karaburun will cost about $227m in total to develop and will begin operations next year, says KfW Ipex.

The project will supply about 100,000 homes and will enjoy 10 years of power price guarantees under Turkey’s renewable energy incentive scheme, called Yekdem.

Karaburun will use turbines supplied by Enercon, the German wind equipment manufacturer. An Enercon subsidiary will also maintain the machines during the 14-year term of Log in to read complete article.
