Global Marine Energy to maintain Ormonde offshore wind link

Subsea cabling specialist Global Marine Energy (GME) has won a contract to maintain the transmission link at the UK’s 150MW Ormonde offshore wind farm.

GME was awarded the business by Transmission Capital Partners (TCP), which owns and operates the link to the Vattenfall-owned wind farm off the northwest coast of England.

The two have signed a framework agreement for repairs, surveys and re-burials.

GME will provide a round-the-clock call out facility for fault location and becomes the preferred cable-repair contractor.

As part of the agreement, GME will also create and manage a site-specific cable system database, allowing appropriate parties to easily view and analyse data relevant to transmission-link maintenance over the life of the system.
