Sowitec set to go with 90MW Valle de Los Vientos wind in Chile

Valle de Los Vientos will be among the largest additions to Chile's wind fleet

German developer Sowitec says it can begin building its 90MW Valle de Los Vientos wind farm in Chile after securing permission to run a transmission line from the project.

Sowitec’s Chilean subsidiary says the transmission service agreement allowing development of the 110kV link means it can proceed to the construction phase at Valle de Los Vientos within the next few months.

The 45-turbine wind farm will be among the country's largest yet built. It is due to begin operations in mid-2013 on desert land owned by the Chilean state near the city of Calama, in the north of the country.
