CG Power wins connection work at Belgium's Northwind

The developers of Belgium’s 216MW Northwind offshore wind farm have tapped CG Power to design the grid works and supply the main offshore transformer, as the third Belgian offshore project steamrolls ahead.

The deal marks the fifth offshore wind job for CG, which is part of India’s Avantha Group, following its work at Belwind, WPD’s Butendiek, and E.ON’s Humber Gateway and Amrumbank West projects.

CG’s Belgian unit, based in the Flemish city of Mechelen, will oversee the design and installation of the offshore substation, which will be fabricated by Bladt Industries in Denmark and installed atop a monopile foundation. The substation is expected to be fully energised by September 2013.
