RP Global wind project in Croatia ties up $67.5m finance via IFC

Croatia's impending entry to the EU means it has to align itself with the bloc's ambitious renewable energy targets

Austrian power-producer RP Global has secured a finance package of €55m ($67.5m) for the 44MW Danilo wind project it is developing in Croatia.

IFC, part of the World Bank Group, is providing a €20m loan to the local subsidiary of RP Global. IFC also arranged a further €35m from UniCredit in the form of a syndicated loan.

The €84m Danilo project will be built across three nearby sites in central Dalmatia, about 15km from the Adriatic Sea.

It is due to enter service at the end of 2013, boosting a Croatian wind fleet that stood at 131MW at the end of 2011, according to EWEA figures.
