Port of Mostyn confirmed for Gwynt y Môr turbine installation

All 160 Siemens turbines will be installed out of Port of Mostyn

German utility RWE has confirmed Port of Mostyn in North Wales will be the base for the turbine installation programme for its 576MW Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm in Liverpool Bay, UK.

All 160 Siemens turbines will be installed from the port on the Flintshire coast, where RWE is constructing an operations and maintenance base for its operating wind farms in Liverpool Bay – North Hoyle and Rhyl Flats – as well as Gwynt y Môr once completed.

“Siemens Energy will supply and install 160 of their 3.6MW turbines, with components beginning to arrive at the Port of Mostyn in early 2013 and stored in lay-down areas ready for installation,” says RWE npower renewables’ Gwynt y Môr project director, Toby Edmonds.
