Cape Wind project to advance with ocean geotechnical survey

The developer of Cape Wind has begun what it says is a major geotechnical and geophysical survey operation as part of pre-construction work for the first US offshore utility-scale wind farm.

"Our geotechnical programme this summer on Horseshoe Shoal begins our detailed design engineering and construction phase and will allow us to optimize our project to ensure that Cape Wind will deliver its important clean energy benefits over its design life," says Cape Wind President Jim Gordon.

The multi-million dollar effort begins Friday and will continue through September-October, involving as many as 50 scientists, engineers, archeologists and geologists using specialized vessels.
