Gamesa may win 500MW China debut for G10X, minister says

Gamesa's ex-CEO said it would place a G10X prototype in China by mid-2012

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa is set to sign a deal to build a 500MW “experimental” wind farm in China, according to Spain’s economy and energy minister José Manuel Soria.

Soria says he will travel to China in September to sign the agreement, which involves China’s State Grid and Spanish grid operator Red Eléctrica (REE), with Gamesa to supply its flagship onshore 4.5MW G10X turbines.

"The novelty (of this collaboration) is the innovation that incorporates Gamesa's wind turbines to 4.5 megawatts, when the normal is 1-1.5 megawatts," Soria told Spanish radio.

Industry sources confirm that talks are underway, but caution that a final deal has not yet been reached.
