Vestas hires new chief operating officer to focus on production

Wind turbine giant Vestas has appointed Jean-Marc Lechêne as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Lechêne joins Vestas’ management team with responsibility for manufacturing and outsourcing, and a focus on cost reduction in the production process.

The 53-year-old has considerable experience in the production sector, according to Vestas, and has most recently worked as a consultant implementing major cost-reduction projects.

Lechêne has been a general director at a division of Michelin, and has held several senior posts at cement giant Lafarge.

His appointment marks another step in the rebuilding of the senior management team at Vestas following the departure of a number of key figures earlier this year.
