Canada's Boralex snaps up 91MW French wind portfolio

A Boralex wind farm

Canadian renewables developer and power-producer Boralex has acquired a 91MW portfolio of wind assets in France in a deal worth about C$45m ($43.5m).

Boralex bought the operational 34.5MW St. Patrick wind farm from AES and a trio of fully-permitted projects totalling 56MW from InnoVent.

St.Patrick – which sells its power to utility EDF under long-term contracts – and the three development projects are all in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardie regions of France.

Quebec-based Boralex also signed a separate deal with developer InnoVent, giving it purchase options for the next five years on a further 130MW of French wind projects.

The deal brings Boralex’s installed capacity in France to almost 200MW, the company says.
