US offshore wind will be born in Northeast, says Deepwater boss

The US offshore wind industry will be developed first along northern New Jersey, New York City and southern New England, predicts William Moore.

The chief executive of Deepwater Wind says these areas off the Atlantic coast offer the best opportunities to deliver electricity at competitive rates.

“The potential for the Northeast is significant,” he told the Renewable Energy Finance Forum-Wall Street in New York. The region offers the highest power prices, major load centres and policies that support growth in renewables consumption.
