Top man in Asia-Pacific out as Vestas merges unit with China

The president of Vestas' Asia-Pacific sales business unit has left the company after the wind manufacturer decided to merge his division with its equivalent in China.

Sean Sutton has departed from the turbine giant “by mutual agreement” leaving Jens Tommerup, currently president of Vestas China, in charge of a newly-united pan-regional sales operation.

Vestas says the merger is part of a general restructuring at the company designed to "reduce fixed costs, improve profitability and increase customer focus”.

The new sales business will align the company’s efforts in a region where the Chinese and Asian markets are already closely interlinked, it adds.

Tommerup joined Vestas in 2009 after spending most of his career at Danish industrial group Hempel.
