Now China's Haizhuang looks at building US wind factory

China’s Haizhuang Windpower (HZW) may build a factory in the US if the market picks up, its ­director of international business tells Recharge.

“If the market is good enough, we would like to invest in local production. Money is not a problem for us,” says Zhu Ming.

The company installed two of its 2MW turbines in Nevada County, Iowa, this year — its first overseas sale.

HZW signed a ­co-operation agree­ment last month with ­ China Development Bank (CDB) and a Chongqing-based foreign trade company to support investment in a 200MW wind farm in Romania.

Zhu says his company could ­expand its agreement with CDB to include financing for projects in North America.
