Vestas to build and equip two plants for Seawind in Chile

Raki will be equipped with three of the Danish manufacturer's V112 3MW units

Vestas has signed a deal with UK-based developer Seawind to build and equip two wind farms in Chile.

The 9MW Punta Chome and and Raki projects, both sited near the city of Concepcion, are due to begin producing power by the second quarter of 2013.

Punta Chome will use five Vestas V100 1.8MW machines, while Raki will be equipped with three of the Danish manufacturer’s V112 3MW units. Vestas will also take control of operations and maintenance at the plants.

Seawind says it limited the two wind farms to 9MW to take advantage the benefits available under Chile’s “small distributed generator” legislation for grid-connected projects.
