Siemens sees Americas turbine sales expansion beyond US

Siemens is upbeat over wind turbine sales opportunities in Canada and Latin America, where Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay are among the possibilities, a senior company executive tells Recharge.

Siemens is pursuing sales in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan, says Michael Revak, vice president sales and proposals for Siemens Wind Power products in the Americas. “We’re excited about Canada,” he comments.

According to the Canadian Wind Energy Association, Siemens has installed more than 280 turbines in Ontario and 60 others in Manitoba. To meet local content requirements under Ontario’s feed-in tariff programme, Siemens is now building rotor blades at a plant in Tillsonburg.
