Brazil considers tariff on imported Chinese turbines

Brazil wants to prevent the dumping of cheap Chinese wind turbines as it looks to protect manufacturers that have started building factories in the country in the past two years.

An industry source says a tariff on Chinese turbines is being considered. It would be similar to the 30% tax on cars that do not have at least 65% local content, imposed by President Dilma Rousseff after high levels of cheap Chinese imports started to threaten Brazil’s high-cost auto industry.
