In Depth: Offshore wind turbine makers eye UK sites

Siemens' 6MW prototype on its way to the test site in Høvsøre, Denmark

Turbine manufacturers are continuing to look at setting up factories in the UK to serve the giant Round 3 offshore wind projects.

Some have fallen by the wayside, such as Doosan’s proposal to set up in Scotland, and Clipper’s ill-fated Britannia project in northeast England. Others have slowed their plans, as they try to ensure the timing is right for the heavy capital investments.
