Germany's STEAG buys 108MW Romanian wind farm project

Romanian developer Monsson Group has sold a 108MW wind farm in the country to German power producer STEAG.

Essen-based STEAG will spend about €200m ($257m) purchasing and completing the Crucea North project in Constanta County, which will be equipped with 36 3MW Vestas wind turbines, says Monsson.

The plant, in the wind-rich Dobrogea region, is due to be operational by the end of next year. It will supply electricity to the Romanian national grid via a new transformer station at nearby Stupina.

STEAG – Germany’s fifth-largest power producer – has about 9.4GW of renewable and conventional capacity installed around the world.
