Polish wind farm under way as RWE looks to Innogy for growth

RWE Innogy is set to break ground at its fourth and largest wind farm in Poland, as RWE's renewables unit continues to represent one of the few unequivocally good-news stories for the German utility.

The first construction vehicles have arrived at the Nowy Staw wind farm, near Gdansk in northern Poland, with the 39MW project slated to have 19 REpower MM92 turbines in place and turning out electricity by early next year.

The €60m ($77.7m) project will add to RWE's 108MW of existing wind capacity in Poland, which recently backed away from a plan that investors say would have killed its renewables market and put its 2020 targest out of reach.
