Sinovel scraps plans to hire 350 Chinese university graduates

Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Sinovel has abandoned plans to recruit around 350 graduates as the company adapts to grimmer market conditions.

The u-turn in hiring policy, first reported by Chinese media and later confirmed by the company, underscores Sinovel’s changing fortunes in the industry.

Sinovel had originally planned to hire more than 800 graduates in a recruitment drive at Chinese universities last autumn.

In the end it signed agreements with about 400 students who were set to start work in various departments after graduating this summer.

But this week Sinovel alerted 350 of those students that it was cancelling their posts.

Sinovel staff say the agreements with the graduates were not full employment contracts…
