shock

analysts
amid
worse-than-expected
financial
results
and
could
significantly
damage
Vestas’
reputation.
Chief
executive
Ditlev
Engel
described
the
issue,
which
was
detected
by
Vestas’
own
performance
diagnostic
centre
and
affects
376
turbines
it
sold
between
June
2009
and
September
2011
—
including
36
offshore
—
as
a
“very
nasty
surprise”.
The
affected
turbines
account
for
a
third
of
V90s
shipped
during
the
period.
The
turbines
may
need
extra
maintenance,
repair
or
replacement
due
to
malfunctioning
bearings,
Vestas
