The two countries will work together in a bid to speed deployment of floating turbine platforms that can take advantage of higher wind speeds in deeper waters, the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) says.

The nations will “share best practice and expertise” in the area to “ensure that both countries align our resources to maximise the impact for both”, DECC says.

“Ultimately it is hoped that this approach will result in more cost-effective, higher-yield floating wind technologies being developed.”
