Update: Minister reacts to Vestas 'Chinese target' claims

Amid reports that two of China’s wind giants are considering a takeover of Vestas, Denmark’s energy minister tells Recharge a Chinese partner for the company “would be fine” – but remains tight-lipped at the prospect of a complete takeover.

Martin Lidegaard spoke as Vestas shares rose by up to 18% in trading today following reports that Sinovel and Goldwind are both eyeing an acquisition of the world’s biggest wind turbine maker.

Vestas chief executive Ditlev Engel refused to comment on claims by Danish newspaper Jyllands-Postenthe that China’s number one and two turbine makers have discussed the possibility with bankers after a recent plunge in Vestas' shares.
