Acciona starts work on first Croatian wind-power project

Jelinak is sited in the northwest of Croatia

Spanish renewables developer and turbine manufacturer Acciona has started work on the 30MW Jelinak wind farm in Croatia.

Jelinak – Acciona’s first wind project in the country – is located in the Split-Dalmatia area of northwest Croatia.

It will consist of 20 1.5MW Acciona Windpower turbines and is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

Croatia currently has just 72MW of wind power installed, but its forthcoming entry into the EU means that it will have to align itself with Europe’s aggressive emissions-reduction and renewables targets.
